The Bible Society of Egypt exists to
make the Scriptures available and accessible to all, at an
affordable price, in a language people can understand, and
in a way that can help each one comprehend the message and
effectively apply it.
The Bible Society of Egypt is serving
the largest and oldest Christian community in the Middle
East, dedicated to strengthening and facilitating the growth
of the local Church. There are approximately 10 million
Christians in Egypt (13 % of the total population).
BSOE is the largest publisher of
Arabic Bibles in the world, with a full-time staff of 220.
Each year, dozens of creative Scripture materials are
published in a variety of formats and media, each product
designed for a particular social, economic, age, and
cultural interest group. These Scriptures are promoted and
distributed through dozens of ingenious projects.
The BSOE seeks out creative and non-traditional means of
reaching people otherwise unaware of Scripture products,
through participation in book fairs, exhibitions and
festivals, and the placement of outlets in shopping malls,
holiday resorts and other seasonal locations, along with
free home delivery. Moreover, the Society provides public
marketing of the Bible through Highway Billboards, Press and
TV ads, thus raising awareness and making the Bible a
familiar sight in Egypt.
The BSOE supplies Scriptures for the disabled, for
prisoners and their families, and for refugees. Braille
Bibles and cassettes are provided for the blind and sign
language Scriptures for the deaf. The BSOE has developed a
successful post-literacy program, with the Bible forming the
curriculum basis and over 15,000 learners involved. Due to
such high rates of illiteracy, the BOSE has also produced
dramatized cassettes and videos which translate God's Word
into the heart language of Egyptians.
The Bible Society of Egypt is
continually faced with amazing opportunities for sharing
God's Word in Egypt. However, these many and exciting
prospects go beyond our resources. The selling price of
products cannot be increased enough to pay for the real
costs involved. On the average, the return on sales is less
than half of the actual cost of the Scriptures that are
provided. Consequently, the more Scriptures distributed,
the greater the financial loss!
While 7000 local donors and 600
churches in Egypt continue to generously support their Bible
Society, it is not enough to cover the increasing expense,
effort, and subsidy required for marketing and distributing
the Bible. The Bible Society is diligent to plan and pursue
new prospects for advancing the Bible
Cause in Egypt. Please consider partnering with us in
making the Scriptures available and affordable and
understandable to all in Egypt.
By joining the 10 Bibles a month club,
your gift will provide the subsidy needed for approximately
10 Bibles each month! YOU can impact Egypt by making Bibles
affordable and available.
